Position Summary
INGENIA Therapeutics Inc. is a biotech startup company currently located at the Biolabs in East Watertown, MA. We strive to develop antibodies to treat multiple diseases, including inflammatory diseases and retinal diseases. INGENIA Therapeutics Inc. is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Scientist to drive its discovery research to support our platform and pipeline. The successful candidate will design, execute experiments, and present results internally and externally. Applicants should be outstanding team members and effectively communicate across internal multi-disciplinary teams, as well as with external collaborators. The candidate will need to manage multiple projects in a fast-pace, data-driven and results-oriented environment.
Primary responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Perform acute and chronic in vivo studies including mouse and rat handing/monitoring, tissue/blood sampling, and measurement of blood-based biomarkers.
- Design and execution of assays for screening of drug candidates (cell-based biochemistry readouts) to identify mechanism of action of antibodies
- Records, analyzes, and presents scientific data to project teams with clear interpretation of results and proposed next steps
- Provide leadership in establishing a culture that values scientific ingenuity, learning, and collaboration
- The ideal candidate must possess scientific detail and understanding pathophysiology of retinal or chronic kidney diseases.
- Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related life sciences areas with 2-5 years of industry (Pharma/Biotech) experience or MS in molecular or cell biology with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with angiogenesis will have advantage
- Experience with animal studies including tissue sampling and analysis
- Experience working with antibody-based therapeutics
- Excellent oral and written communication skill
- Ability to multi-task efficiently, prioritize, and bring projects to conclusion
- Strong attention to details and thorough organization skill
- Ability to manage and supervise junior scientists to meet project timelines and teach direct reports assay and trouble shooting skills
- Experience with cell biology and biochemistry techniques, including culture of stable cell lines and primary cells, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, qPCR, ELISA, chemiluminescence immunoassay, IHC, IF, reporter assays, transfection, and flow cytometry (including FlowJo).

INGENIA Therapeutics Inc. is seeking a talented and experienced Research Associate to drive its discovery research to support our platform and pipeline. The successful candidate will design, execute experiments, and present results internally and externally. Applicants should be outstanding team members and effectively communicate across internal multi-disciplinary teams, as well as with external collaborators. The candidate will need to manage multiple projects in a fast-move, data-driven and results-oriented environment.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Working with internal or external strategic partners to discover novel therapeutic antibodies
- Cloning, expressing, and purifying antibodies and target proteins from multiple expression hosts (CHO and HEK) to identify mechanism of action of antibodies
- Skilled in recombinant DNA techniques (Bacterial cell culture and subcloning)
- Assay development to support antibody biophysical and biochemical characterization (Quantification, FPLC, SEC-HPLC, BLITZ, endotoxin measurement etc.)
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic laboratory notebooks in accordance with INGENIA’s policy.
- Establish & update SOP documentation for all relevant processes
- Prepare & present research reports
- Continuously seek and evaluate techniques and opportunities that will improve quality, efficiency or scalability of workflow
- BS or MS with a strong background in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or related field
- 2+ (MS) or 4+ (BS) years of experience in industry or academia
- Strong attention to details and thorough organization skill
- Hands-on experience in antibody and/or protein expression and purification (affinity, ion exchange, SEC) methodology is required
- A desire to learn new things, the ability to remain flexible in a dynamic work environment and adjust priorities in a timely manner
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
